Safeguarding & Professional Standards

A safe, ethical and school-aligned approach to wellbeing support

Safeguarding and professional integrity sit at the heart of all my work with schools.

I understand the responsibility schools hold when engaging external professionals, particularly when working with children, young people and staff wellbeing. My practice is designed to complement existing safeguarding, SEND and pastoral systems, not replace them.

Safeguarding in School Settings

When working in schools:

  • The school retains safeguarding responsibility at all times

  • All work aligns with the school’s own safeguarding policies and procedures

  • I work in close communication with designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) as appropriate

  • Clear boundaries around confidentiality and escalation are maintained

  • Any safeguarding concerns are handled in line with school policy and statutory guidance

My role is to provide wellbeing and emotional regulation support within the school’s safeguarding framework.

Professional Standards & Compliance

I work to high professional and ethical standards, including:

•            Enhanced DBS (Children’s Barred List checked)

•            Safeguarding Children Level 3 (KCSIE-aligned, completed 2026)

•            Full professional indemnity insurance

•            Registered with the CNHC (Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council)

•            Accredited member of the GHSC (General Hypnotherapy Standards Council)

•            Ongoing professional development and reflective practice

•            Trauma-aware, evidence-informed approach

All work is delivered in a calm, respectful and appropriate manner for educational settings.

Boundaries of Practice

My work in schools is:

  • Focused on emotional regulation, resilience and coping skills

  • Present-focused and solution-oriented

  • Designed to support wellbeing, not provide therapy or counselling services within school

  • Not a replacement for CAMHS, NHS services or school counselling provision

Where additional or specialist support may be needed, this is discussed with the school in an appropriate and professional way.

Consent & Communication

  • Parental consent is obtained in line with school policy

  • Gillick competence is respected where appropriate

  • Information sharing is proportionate, respectful and transparent

  • Record-keeping is brief, professional and GDPR-compliant

A Trusted Partner for Schools

Schools value my approach because it is:

  • Calm and grounded

  • Safeguarding-aware

  • Collaborative

  • Professional and transparent

  • Aligned with the realities of school life
